August 2019 F2F Meeting Materials
Harvard Medical School (Team Carbon) hosted the fourth DataSTAGE Face-to-Face meeting in Boston, MA on August 22 & 23, 2019. Fifty-seven STAGE consortium and NHLBI members participated in-person with additional virtual attendees.
Day 1 began with reflections on the Workplan 3.0 process and a renewed focus towards delivering an MVP for Go-Live. TOPMed, Team Xenon and Seven Bridges conducted a peer review session focused on Data Search and Association Testing, followed by Team Calcium, the University of Chicago and the Broad Institute. After a group-lunch, three breakout sessions were held centered around MVP/Go-Live: Clinical Naming Conventions Across Platforms, Challenges of VCF, and Data Release from dbGaP. The day concluded with a networking event at Hops N Scotch!
Day 2 opened with four Tiger Team/Working Group breakouts in the morning: O16n TT, Tools & Apps WG, DHWG, and UEWG, followed by three additional and more participant focused breakouts: Developers Get Lively, PIs Dedupe, and a continued UEWG & Alpha User Documentation discussion. Continued conversations around Search led to a working lunch/breakout session, followed by report-backs, a GA4GH overview, and closing remarks/next steps.
Overall, the August F2F shed light on the many challenges that exist in Go-Live and beyond. The call for greater communication, transparency, and cohesiveness was appreciated by all. As progress continues, the Consortium remains more focused than ever on the program’s overall goals.
