March 2020 F2F Meeting Materials
The BioData Catalyst Coordinating Center was proud to host the sixth BioData Catalyst Face-to-Face meeting in Chapel Hill, NC on March 5 & 6, 2020. 46 BDCatalyst consortium and NHLBI members participated in-person with an additional 18 virtual attendees.
Day 1set expectations with highlighting the great work and progress achieved by the consortium to-date, before shifting focus to the high priority items and near-term deliverables; introduction of a new Change Control Board (CCB) and Change Management Framework, establishing the Data Release Management Working Group (DRMWG), Data Management Plan development, engaging and understanding Fellows needs, as well as realigning and prioritizing Q2 deliverables. “Life after go-live” was discussed followed by updates from the Fellows Program, CICI, User Services, BDCatalyst Interoperation, and a presentation by the VA on “Bridging Data Silos Without Breaking Them.” Day 1 concluded by reviewing updates to the Strategic and Implementation Plans, a Day 1 recap and preview for Day 2.
Day 2saw heavy modification to the agenda (a growing F2F trend) with a focus on prioritizing Q2 deliverables. The inaugural DRMWG discussion resulted in prioritizing: 1) need to understand Fellows projects, 2) identification of selected TAR files, and 3) dependent on #1, Freeze 8 necessary files data for Fellows. Working Groups met to review/revise their charters and reported back to the consortium on their progress. Main takeaways were the urgent need to standup the new working group framework and organizational structure. The timely identification and response of and to risks grows all the more important with the onboarding of Fellows and early users.
